A media report comparing the family-related controversies surrounding actress Ha-young and A2O LITE member Aijing has drawn criticism on TheQoo, with commenters arguing that the two situations are fundamentally different.

The OSEN report examined how both celebrities faced backlash over controversies involving family members, while noting that the public response to each case has diverged significantly.

Ha-young came under scrutiny after previously speaking proudly about coming from four generations of doctors. Questions later emerged over the activities of her great-grandfather Ahn Sang-ho during the Japanese colonial period.

Her agency initially denied allegations concerning his pro-Japanese activities, but later apologized after confirming that records listed him as a council member of the Taisho Friendship Association in 1916. Ha-young also apologized, saying she had spoken proudly about her family history without fully knowing that part of her great-grandfather’s past.

Aijing, meanwhile, faced controversy shortly after A2O LITE’s debut after reports emerged concerning unpaid wages and debts connected to her parents’ business.

Aijing’s mother subsequently apologized for failing to make required payments on time and said she was communicating with those involved to resolve the outstanding issues. She also emphasized that Aijing had no involvement in the business dispute.

According to the report, some Chinese fans even discussed raising money to help resolve the outstanding payments, with the funds intended to be repaid later.

The original article framed both cases around the broader question of how much responsibility celebrities should bear for controversies involving their families.

However, many commenters on TheQoo rejected the comparison, arguing that Ha-young had personally spoken publicly about her family history, while Aijing was a young teenager with no direct involvement in her parents’ business dispute.

Netizen Reactions

The sampled comments were overwhelmingly critical of the article’s comparison. Commenters argued that Ha-young’s controversy involved family history she had publicly discussed herself, while Aijing’s case concerned her parents’ financial dispute and a young idol who had not personally promoted or defended their actions.

1. The latter is basically Chinese fans helping Chinese victims deal with a Chinese member’s family scandal, so there’s really no reason for Koreans to weigh in. In the former case, she brought up her own family history and ended up digging up a pro-Japanese collaboration controversy herself, which is why Koreans reacted so strongly. Why are they even comparing these? They’re completely different cases.
2. Seriously, how are you going to compare an ordinary fraudster with a national traitor?
3. Wow, the state of journalism... do they have a lunchbox full of udon noodles for a brain?
4. Is a traitor really the same thing as some fraudster from another country? ㅋ How are they putting these on the same level?
5. Bragging about coming from a family with a traitor in it is still unbelievable when I think about it.
6. Is a fraudster’s family really on the same level as a family tied to treason? And people who can’t even make that basic distinction are working as reporters.
7. ? Are they trying to muddy the waters for Ha-young? Why are they comparing a pro-Japanese collaborator with an ordinary fraudster?
8. Because her ancestor was a traitor.
9. Aijing didn’t go on some show saying, “I’m so proud of my mom,” or anything like that. I understand not liking the daughter of someone accused of fraud either, but it’s still different from the first case ㅋㅋ
10. Koreans are donating to Aijing’s fundraiser????
