During the October 29 broadcast of KBS 2TV’s Fun-Staurant, viewers saw the now 186 cm-tall Min training as a professional swimmer.
Oh Yoon-ah explained that Min received an offer to pursue swimming professionally after people involved with the team saw previous footage on Fun-Staurant showing how much he enjoyed the sport. He subsequently passed an entry test and joined the team as a salaried professional athlete.
While preparing for a Special Olympics preliminary competition in late August, Min trained under race conditions as his coach tracked his improving times. The coach said Min had shaved nearly five seconds off his freestyle time and could potentially improve his backstroke time by as much as 10 seconds.
Results from a subsequent domestic Special Olympics competition showed Min winning a bronze medal in freestyle and a silver medal in backstroke.
