Lee Seung-gi’s ‘3-Minute Sellout’ Draws Scrutiny After Concert Seating Reduced by Over 10%

Singer and actor Lee Seung-gi returned with his first formal solo concert in about 13 years, with two of the performances selling out within three minutes of tickets going on sale.

Lee held his 2026 Lee Seung-gi Concert: Gi-Seung-Jeon-Rock (樂) from October 23 to 25 at Blue Square Woori WON Banking Hall in Seoul.

Tickets for the October 24 and 25 performances went on sale in June and sold out within three minutes. Following the strong ticket sales, organizers added an additional performance on October 23, bringing the concert run to three days.

However, attention has since turned to the number of seats actually made available.

According to Sports Chosun, citing an earlier report by Sports Kyunghyang, the concert organizer said that more than 10 percent fewer chairs were installed than the venue’s official seating capacity.

The report noted that a smaller number of available tickets can make a sellout easier to achieve even when demand remains strong. It also raised questions about the exact number of tickets initially offered for sale.

An official ticketing notice in September later announced that additional seats would be released after the stage configuration had been finalized.

During the concerts, Lee performed songs including “Words That Are Hard to Say,” “Delete,” “Return,” and “Don’t Forget, Remember, Don’t Be Late.”

After the performances, Lee thanked fans for their support, saying that simply knowing someone is by your side can provide great strength during difficult moments.

Netizen Reactions

The sampled Nate News discussion was mixed. Some commenters questioned the significance of the three-minute sellout or criticized Lee Seung-gi over past controversies, while several others accused the article of deliberately trying to undermine him. One attendee also gave a more nuanced account, praising his performance while observing that his fanbase appeared noticeably smaller than before.

1. Did they say he cut ties with his wife’s family? He seems to be keeping in touch with them just fine. Who would want to go to a concert by a singer who only cares about money?
2. They gave out free tickets and then called it sold out ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
3. It’s such a shame. He gave up so much. It wasn’t just a tiny minority telling him not to do it—it felt like practically the whole country was against it. Of course, if he says, “I gained a family and a child,” then there’s nothing more to say. But even someone like me, who really liked him before he got married, completely lost affection for him afterward. I can’t be the only one who feels that way, right?
4. Did Lee Seung-gi get on the reporters’ bad side or something? This article’s intentions are pretty obvious...
5. Even if they reduced the seats by 10 percent, isn’t selling out in three minutes still impressive? This reporter is ultimately just raising questions ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ “Apart from the three-minute sellout, the exact number of seats sold and the original ticketing capacity are also worth examining.” So what exactly are we supposed to do with that?
6. Why are people still going after Lee Seung-gi? He’s raising his child and living his life, just leave him alone. Especially after what he already went through with his former agency and its CEO.
7. A reporter trying every possible way to tear him down. Tsk tsk.
8. They clearly wrote this article just to bash him. It’s not even a huge venue, so 10 percent doesn’t amount to thousands of seats anyway. Seriously.
9. I went to the concert. (Please don’t throw stones at me.) You could really feel how hungry he had been to make music again. The setlist covered songs from his first album onward, and he sang with so much effort that I was actually worried about the condition of his voice for the next show. You could feel how much he wanted to make his fans happy. They had waited a long time, so it was nice seeing them enjoy themselves. That said, it felt like a lot of fans had left because of the controversies. On the second floor especially, it felt more like ordinary concertgoers than dedicated Lee Seung-gi fans. It was sad that you could really feel what he had lost because of the controversies, though I suppose that comes with the choices he made.
10. What a nasty reporter. Seriously mean spirited. You want to make money writing articles like this? Have some shame. You should be ashamed in front of your own parents and children...
