The footage began spreading across social media and online communities after aespa’s October 9 concert at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle.
In the video, several people can be seen engaged in a physical altercation in a public area as others nearby watch. The footage appears to show punches and kicks being exchanged.
Initial Korean media coverage described the women as presumed aespa fans, but the report itself acknowledged that their connection to the group has not been confirmed and that the reason for the fight remains unknown.
That framing drew criticism from some Korean readers, who questioned why aespa was prominently included in coverage of an altercation that may have had no direct connection to the group.
Several commenters also said the headline initially made them believe that aespa members themselves had been involved in or subjected to an assault.
The Seattle show was part of aespa’s 2026–27 world tour, SYNK : COMPLaeXITY. The group performed at Climate Pledge Arena on October 9 after stops including Dallas, Los Angeles and Oakland, before continuing to Vancouver.
Netizen Reactions
The sampled Nate News comments overwhelmingly criticized the article’s framing, with readers arguing that aespa should not have been tied so prominently to the fight when the report itself said the people involved had not been confirmed as fans.
1. Don’t drag aespa into this.
2. Did you become a reporter just to write articles like this?
3. Look at the state of that headline, tsk tsk. There’s a reason you people get called trash reporters.
4. Look at that headline... Is this supposed to be an aespa concert review?
5. What does this have to do with aespa? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
6. Sigh, reporter~ write the article properly.. I thought aespa had been assaulted or something~ Seriously, there aren’t any real journalists left these days~ twisting the truth and writing nothing but clickbait headlines.
7. It’s not like aespa were the ones fighting... You’re writing an article just because some American kids got into a fight..
8. Mr. trash reporter, what does this have to do with aespa?
9. You literally wrote, “However, it has not been clearly established whether the women in the video were actually aespa fans or why they fought,” and then put aespa in the headline??? This is absolute trash journalism.
10. Are you an aespa fan? You’re tying some random fight at the venue to aespa’s tour ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Why are you even getting paid? ㅠ
