The National Museum of Korea announced that RM made the donation on September 29 through Friends of National Museum of Korea, a support organization for the museum. The funds are expected to be used when the organization purchases and donates artifacts to the museum.
RM was appointed a global ambassador for the National Museum of Korea in June. Following the donation, he said he was pleased to be able to support the museum and would continue working with it to promote both the museum and Korean culture.
