BTS, aespa, ATEEZ and More Reportedly Did Not Submit for Grammys’ New Asian Pop Category

Several major K-pop acts reportedly did not submit entries for the Grammys’ new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category.

A post cited social media reports listing BTS, CORTIS, aespa, ATEEZ, LE SSERAFIM, ILLIT, Stray Kids and Hearts2Hearts among the artists said not to have submitted music for consideration in the new category.

The discussion drew attention because some of the artists, particularly aespa, Stray Kids and CORTIS, had previously faced criticism online amid speculation over which acts would submit to the category.

The post argued that those earlier accusations had circulated before official submission information was available, prompting commenters to criticize the fan wars and speculation that followed.

The Recording Academy introduced Best Asian Pop Music Performance for the 2027 Grammy Awards. The category recognizes eligible Asian pop performances, including K-pop, J-pop and C-pop, that feature meaningful use of one or more Asian languages.

Netizen Reactions

The sampled comments were largely supportive of the reported decision not to submit, while others focused on how artists and fandoms had previously been attacked based on unverified submission rumors. Several comments also criticized the creation of a separate Asian pop category itself.

1. Fck, my group got dragged so fcking hard...
2. I saw a lot of comments subtly dragging BTS while talking about a boycott and saying HYBE was lame ㅋㅋㅋㅋ Honestly, people were dragging everyone, so you can’t really pin it on one particular fandom.
3. Good. Why even submit to this? Enough with the Grammy nonsense already.
4. Honestly, I don’t think K-pop is at a point anymore where its status changes depending on the Grammys, so it’s nice to see this successful teamwork.
5. Why has CORTIS become such a punching bag? It feels like obsessive antis have decided they’re a group they can freely attack. And it’s not just this incident. Are they jealous because CORTIS is popular?
6. Honestly, I figured none of them would submit ㄷㄷ It really was just hearsay.
7. Well done, well done!
8. Oh, that’s cool. We don’t need crowns bestowed on us by white people.
9. They did well. Any company submitting to that category is stupid. It’s blatant racism, and it’s basically begging old white men for an award.
10. So the groups in the title basically all went, “We don’t need the award you’re offering us, we’re fine without it,” and ignored them? Good for them.
