BOYNEXTDOOR’s Taesan Goes Viral for Relatable Reaction to Company Dinner

BOYNEXTDOOR'S Taesan drew attention online after sharing a relatable reaction to heading to a company dinner following a performance.

In messages shared with fans, Taesan said that after finishing the day's performance, he was being taken by the company to get something to eat, although he did not know what they would be having.

After realizing it appeared to be a company dinner, he joked that he would simply eat quietly.

Taesan then asked fans, "Do you find company dinners fun?" before adding, "I'm the same."

Before leaving to eat, he jokingly told fans that he would come back later "if I'm still in my right mind."

The messages quickly gained attention online, with many commenters relating to his apparent lack of enthusiasm for company dinners, while a smaller number questioned whether it was appropriate to make the remark through a fan communication platform.

Netizen Reactions

The reactions were mostly humorous and sympathetic, with many office workers saying they understood Taesan’s feelings. Some commenters, however, felt that complaining about a company dinner on a fan-facing platform was unnecessary.

1. I totally relate to what he’s saying ㅋㅋㅋㅋ But that’s something you say behind the scenes, not in front of everyone ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
2. This is f*cking hilarious ㅋㅋㅋㅋ If he’d said he hated having dinner with the members, I’d understand people making a fuss, but they’re losing it over a company dinner?
3. All of us low-ranking employees fully f*cking support Taesan.
4. It’s still not really something you should say on a messenger app where fans can see it... ㅠㅋㅋ
5. This is just f*cking hilarious ㅋㅋㅋㅋ It’s not like he was even being serious.
6. This manager supports you too... I hate company dinners too ㅠ I just want to go home and read manga.
7. Idols can’t even say they hate company dinners? It wasn’t even a get together among the members.
8. I thought the part about company dinners adding to the company’s debt was even funnier.
9. Of course company dinners suck. They’re employees too.
10. If it was a company dinner after the performance meant to thank the staff for their hard work, I don’t really like an artist having that kind of attitude.
