Japanese actor Kentaro Sakaguchi reportedly had police respond to his home following an argument with his wife shortly after announcing their marriage.
According to MyDaily, citing Japanese outlet Women’s Seven, an emergency call was made from Sakaguchi’s residence late at night on September 17. Police responded to the scene, and the incident was reportedly determined to have stemmed from an argument between the newlywed couple that had escalated.
A local police source quoted in the report said the caller was believed to have been Sakaguchi’s wife. Sakaguchi’s agency has not released a separate official statement regarding the incident. The report does not state that physical violence occurred.
Sakaguchi had announced through his official paid fan club earlier in September that he had married a non-celebrity woman he had been dating. According to the report, his wife is a hair-and-makeup artist three years older than him, and the two met on a drama set and had been in a relationship for more than five years.
Sakaguchi began his career as a model in 2010 before transitioning into acting. He is also set to appear in Channel A’s upcoming drama Kidnap Game, scheduled to premiere on October 6.
