Nate Pann Post Discussing Jennie’s "Fallen Angel" Music Video Sparks Debate Over Creepy Concept

A recent post on the online community Nate Pann titled "Jennie's MV is kind of scary" has drawn attention and discussion regarding the dark, horror-themed imagery featured in the release.

The post highlights a concept centered around the theme "Fallen Angel." Accompanying imagery from the music video depicts scenes including a child in a white robe, angel wings, and a red veil holding a lit candle, alongside a wider shot of multiple children in similar attire holding candles in a dark field before a large burning structure.

Netizen Reactions

A sample of comments from the Nate Pann discussion shows mixed reactions regarding the music video's dark atmosphere, ranging from criticism of the creepy imagery to defenses of the artistic concept.

1. Do not look up Bohemian Grove under any circumstances.

2. I don't know much about Jennie's MV, and talking about the Illuminati seems a bit much, but my point is that the scenes with the kids in this new song are genuinely creepy. The YouTube comments had a crazy number of upvotes agreeing with that too.

3. If you check the accounts leaving comments about the Illuminati after watching Jennie's MV, they're literally accounts claiming that every single K-pop idol and US pop singer out there is part of the Illuminati.... People are free to interpret things however they want, but overinterpreting Jennie's ZEN MV as Illuminati just feels like they've already decided it is and are just attacking her. The ZEN MV was actually praised directly by a Buddhist monk as a top-tier music video that captured Buddhist aesthetics brilliantly ;; But seeing people still call it Illuminati makes it look like they're just pushing their own narrative instead of facts.

4. This is exactly what I wanted to say. It was creepy, and they summed it up well.

5. People were already talking about this overseas ㅋㅋ Jennie stans are trying to clamp their hands over everyone's mouths to silence them.

6. Meanwhile, the mother of the child actor who starred in that MV actually posted a ton of Instagram updates about the filming while playing Jennie's song in the background.

7. Seriously ridiculous ㅋㅋ If people are going to curse her out for filming a music video with kids using a scary horror concept, shouldn't all horror movies or dark genre films featuring child actors be banned from screening too? ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. With brutal crime news every single day making things depressing, and life already being tough enough... even my joy of watching music videos is gone. The MVs are so gloomy, dark, and full of dark themes that instead of leaving you feeling happy and bright, they intentionally showcase darkness, so I just stopped watching them.

9. Even if it's a horror dark fairy tale concept, putting red cloth over kids, having burning scenes, and the narration felt a bit much. Just because you slap the word 'fairy tale' on it doesn't mean kids have to be put in it, and it's not like dark fairy tale concepts haven't been done before.

10. Well, the title itself is literally 'Fallen Angel', after all.
