Actor Heo Nam-jun and ATEEZ’s San Draw Attention for Their “Northern Grand Duke” Visuals

Actor Heo Nam-jun and ATEEZ member San have drawn attention after a photo of the two together surfaced online, delighting fans who had long associated both with the “Northern Grand Duke” archetype.

The original Nate Pann post describes the “Northern Grand Duke” as a common male-lead archetype in romance fantasy: cold and imposing, not particularly talkative, but able to command a room through sheer presence. The poster said both Heo Nam-jun and San are frequently brought up when fans discuss that type of character.

The post contrasted their intense appearances with their reportedly softer personalities off camera, describing Heo Nam-jun as having a strong, masculine look while being playful and gentle, and San as having a powerful stage presence despite being emotional, sweet, and soft-hearted in real life.

Fans had apparently hoped to see the two together, and that wish was finally realized when a photo showed Heo Nam-jun and San smiling side by side and giving thumbs-up gestures. The image was captioned “Ran into each other by chance,” suggesting the meeting was unexpected.

The poster joked that seeing them together felt like “two worlds colliding,” adding that while they do not necessarily look alike, they share a surprisingly similar overall vibe.

Netizen Reactions

The sampled Nate Pann comments were divided, with some users agreeing that Heo Nam-jun and San fit the “Northern Grand Duke” image while others disagreed with the comparison or criticized their visuals.

1. Who are they? I’m seeing these faces for the first time today..

2. Northern Grand Duke~~ Hmm, they really do have that kind of vibe.

3. Being a Northern Grand Duke comes with the prerequisite of being handsome. So those two don’t fit the Northern Grand Duke look.

4. Honestly, is that what people consider handsome? The gaslighting is getting ridiculous.

5. Seriously, enough with the viral marketing for these ugly guys.

6. Wow, San seriously gives off ridiculously strong Northern Grand Duke vibes just from his gaze. That’s a fact.

7. Honestly, their visual chemistry is so freaking good.

8. Their overall vibes are seriously so similar, agreed. The Northern Grand Duke look has been summoned properly.
